Mawarra Psychological Services is a private psychology practice.
We are NOT an emergency or crisis service. If you or someone you know is in a crisis, emergency or at immediate risk of harm to self or others, please telephone Emergency Services (Police or Ambulance) on 000. There are also other mental health services which may be of assistance in times of crisis which are detailed below. |
Crisis Assessment and Treatment Teams:
Northern: 1300-874-243 Central East: 1300-721-927 These services operate 24 hours a day and provide urgent community-based assessment and short-term treatment interventions to people in psychiatric crisis. CAT services have a key role in deciding the most appropriate treatment option and in screening all potential inpatient admissions. CAT services provide intensive community treatment and support, often in the person’s own home, during the acute phase of illness as an alternative to hospitalisation. CAT services also provide a service to designated hospital emergency departments through an onsite presence.

Lifeline:
13-11-14 Lifeline is a national charity providing all Australians experiencing a personal crisis with access to 24 hour crisis support and suicide prevention services.

SuicideLine:
1300-651-251 SuicideLine is a 24/7 telephone counselling service offering professional support to people at risk of suicide, people concerned about someone else’s risk of suicide, and people bereaved by suicide.

Suicide Call Back Service:
1300-659-467 The Suicide Call Back Service is a national professional telephone and online counselling service for people affected by suicide. The service includes a 24/7 telephone counselling service for immediate crisis support.

Kids Helpline:
1800-55-1800 Kids Helpline is Australia’s only free, 24/7 phone and online counselling service for young people aged 5 to 25.

Headspace:
1800-650-890 Headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. This covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services.

Parentline Victoria:
13-22-89 8am to midnight, 7 days a week.
Parentline provides a statewide telephone counselling service to parents and carers of children aged from birth to eighteen years. Professional counsellors are able to explore a variety of issues that impact on parenting and relationships. |
